Editorial team

PRAWOUE.PL is produced by a team of editors specialising in particular areas of law. We write about rules from the point of view of applying them: what is changing, who it affects and what needs to be done.

Editor-in-chief

The editor-in-chief is Krzysztof Szreder. He is responsible for the content published, within the meaning of Article 25 of the Polish Press Law. Contact: kontakt@prawoue.pl.

Editorial material is signed with the name of the newsroom rather than with individual names. Responsibility for every piece rests with the newsroom as a whole and with the editor-in-chief.

Where our stories come from

The starting point is a change with a consequence for the reader: an amendment, a judgment, an authority's interpretation, a bill out for consultation. We follow the Polish Journal of Laws and Monitor Polski, the case law of the Supreme Court, the Supreme Administrative Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, announcements from the competition, financial supervision, data protection and finance authorities, and the progress of bills through parliament.

The second source is readers — matters that pass through courts and public offices long before they show up in any statistic. Submissions come in through News Tip.

We do not cover something merely because it is popular. If a change carries no real consequence, we let it go.

How we verify

• Every piece states its legal basis — the specific provision, case number or interpretation reference — and the date the law was current.
• We work from primary sources. Someone else's article is not a source; the text of the statute, the reasoning of a judgment or an authority's announcement is.
• Where case law is divided on a provision, we say so, rather than picking the more convenient line.
• Sponsored content is marked visibly, before reading begins. We publish no promotional material dressed up as editorial copy.
• Articles do not constitute legal advice in an individual matter — as also stated in the Terms of Use.

How we correct mistakes

Every newsroom makes them. What matters is what happens next.

Substantive corrections are made in the body of the piece and described in a note at the end: what changed and when. We do not quietly delete sentences that turned out to be inaccurate. Typographical and editing errors are fixed without a note.

Where a piece has misled in a material way, we publish a correction in the same section in which the original appeared, marked as a correction.

How to request a correction

A request to correct an inaccurate or untrue report may be filed under Article 31a of the Polish Press Law. Send it to kontakt@prawoue.pl marked „sprostowanie”, or by post to the editorial address.

The request should identify the material concerned (title and date of publication), the passage to be corrected, the proposed wording of the correction, and the name and correspondence address of the person filing it. The statutory deadline is 21 days from publication.

We reply within the statutory period. Where we refuse publication, we state the reason.

Independence

The publisher is Kancelaria Instytutu Praktyki Prawniczej sp. z o.o. Where a piece concerns a matter in which the publisher or a related entity acts as counsel or party, we say so in the text. The choice of subjects and their treatment rest with the newsroom.
